Can you identify our panto stars from their childhood pictures?

We all remember some of our early childhood photos – from school or even from the family archive!

And while some may be embarrassing, others will be up on the mantelpiece for a lifetime!

We’re always thinking of new and exciting competition ideas at the Marina – and this is one of our best yet.

Just for fun, and ahead of this year’s pantomime at the Marina, we have collated some photos of our pantomime cast from their childhood – and some of them are (what’s the word we’re looking for here) amazing, cute, embarrassing – you can make your own mind up!

All you need to do is match up the photographs with the panto star and share with all your friends!

The picture below shows our panto stars now, from left to right (top) Aaron Spendelow, Darren Clewlow-Smith, Mia Richards, (bottom) Terry Gleed, Mark Read, Fenton Gray!

Simply match the black and white picture with the colour photo at the top!

And make sure you book your tickets to see Aladdin, starring Ann Widdecombe and Mark Read, by calling the box office on 01502 533200 or by clicking HERE.

The answers will be posted on our Facebook page towards the end of our panto run!

Mini vintage musical season announced for the BIG SCREEN!

There is the chance to catch some vintage musicals on the big screen as the Marina Theatre announces three exciting events for early 2018.

Singin’ in the Rain, Carousel and South Pacific will be shown as part of the theatre’s vintage flicks season.

On Monday 8th January at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, Singin’ in the Rain (U) can be enjoyed.

Considered by many to be the greatest musical ever made and starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds, this is a classic film not to be missed.

How about taking a trip to watch Carousel (U) with all the family on Thursday 11th January at 2.30pm and 7.30pm?

Billy Bigelow, a smooth-talking carny Barker, falls in love with a millworker on the colourful coast of Maine. Starring Gordon MacRae, Shirley Jones and Barbara Ruick.

The final film in the mini Vintage Musicals season is South Pacific (U) on Monday 15th January at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

Set in an island paradise during World War II, two parallel love stories are threatened by the dangers of prejudice and war.

These vintage flicks are tailored to guests over 60, but are open to all. All tickets are just £4.50 and include a standard tea or coffee.

Call the box office on 01502 533200 or visit the website to book.

Aladdin pantomime competitions launched at the Marina!

He’s back at the Marina for a third year.

And once again, popular funny man Terry Gleed is running his selfie competition – where you could be in with a chance of winning a family ticket for next year’s show!

To tie in with this year’s sparkling family pantomime at the Marina, Terry (aka Wishee-Washee) will be around the area in the build up to Christmas with his unmistakable selfie frame.

Capture a cheeky snap with Wishee-Washee and share it on social media channels including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram – using the hashtag #wisheewindow.

At the end of the panto run, we will choose one lucky winner at random.

Wishee-Washee will also be in our theatre foyer after each of our 32 performances, where you’ll also be able to take photographs.

And if that wasn’t enough, we’re also launching a brand new colouring competition at the Marina – available to pick up in our cafe, and at various events in the build up to Christmas.

Pick up a colouring sheet and design some wacky items of clothing for Widow Twankey’s laundry – we will pick a lucky winner and display some of the best entries during the pantomime run.

This year’s show is set to be our biggest yet as former Tory politician Ann Widdecombe and A1 boyband singer Mark Read star in Aladdin.

Fasten your seat belts for a magical carpet ride to Old Peking where soap-sud silliness has got Widow Twankey and her sons Aladdin and Wishee-Washee in a lather! Can the Slave of the Ring and the Genie of the Lamp help our hero win the day?

Tickets start from just £7, call the box office on 01502 533200 or click HERE to book now!
